He also talks about Y&T's scorching new DVD, "Live - One Hot Night". Download the interview as an MP3 file at this location.
Locomotive Records has confirmed an August 14 release date for the two-DVD/CD set "Live: One Hot Night" by longtime rock 'n' roll survivors Y&T, a group that has been lighting up stages since their 1973 San Francisco inception. This Netherlands show, recorded in October of 2006, comes complete with a bonus DVD containing backstage aftershow "meet-and-greet" segments. You also get to go to the pre-show soundcheck as well as view the outtakes from the concert itself. Rounding out this must-have package for any Y&T fan is a photo gallery, a special clip from 2006's Bang Your Head!!! festival and an accompanying CD of the Netherlands show.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Meniketti first formed YESTERDAY & TODAY (named after THE BEATLES' album) with bassist Phil Kennemore and drummer Leonard Haze, adding second guitarist Joey Alves shortly thereafter. Always known as a killer live band, their 1976 self-titled debut and the 1978 "Struck Down" follow-up on London Records gave way to a shortening of their name to Y&T on their 1981 "Earthshaker" A&M debut. The record was a monster, enabling them to tour with KISS and AC/DC. 1982's "Black Tiger", 1983's "Mean Streak", 1984's "In Rock We Trust", 1985's "Down For The Count", and 1987's "Contagious" (their Geffen debut) had Y&T touring incessantly with AEROSMITH and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

The '90s started with a "Best Of" before "Ten" landed in '91. In '92, they called it quits. Miraculously, though, in '95, came "Musically Incorrect", a stunning rebirth, which was followed in '97 by "Endangered Species" and in '98 by "On The Blue Side". With catalog sales upwards of four million, and reissues starting to sell to a new generation, Meniketti and Kennemore enlisted guitarist John Nymann and drummer Mike Vanderhule and the band has been touring steadily ever since.
